DETAILS

Witness the wonder of turning sap from sugar maple trees into sweet maple syrup. Participants will hike into the woods to view the sap collection in progress and then head over to the evaporator to learn how the sap becomes syrup. Everyone on the tour gets a taste of the final product! Ryerson Woods is one of the few places in Lake County where conditions are right for maple syrup production. Afterwards, create a ceramic art piece with art instructor Kirsten Sauders. Meet at the Welcome Center in Ryerson Woods, 21950 Riverwoods Rd, Deerfield, IL 60015. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Snacks will be provided after the maple syrup hike at Brushwood Center, the historical home at Ryerson Woods. All levels of skill are welcomed for both activities. Families welcomed.
