As the Brood XIII cicadas spread their wings, we celebrate all we can learn from nature! Brushwood Center shares the cicada emergence and our newest exhibition, Metamorphosis: Emerging from the Dark through the lens of Queer Ecology at a special Exhibition Opening and Outdoor Concert. Queer Ecology invites us to see the queer in nature, from sexuality and gender, to embracing the peculiar. Metamorphosis features the work of over 30 local artists who are exploring their own narratives of emerging from challenging times, overcoming obstacles, and embracing new possibilities with works in painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, collage, and more. 1pm | Exhibition Opens 1:30pm | Queer Ecology Talk with Senior Program Director, Dani Abboud 2:00pm | Windy City Performing Arts Outdoor Concert inspired by the themes of Metamorphosis: Emerging from the Dark. As living creatures we all transform in a variety of ways. WCPA's musical selections will highlight the cyclical nature of our own existence that, in many ways, mirrors the life cycle of our Cicada friends.
