DETAILS

In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to preserve a bit of summer by creating stunning 2D artwork using pressed flowers. Discover the best practices for selecting, harvesting, and preparing flowers for pressing, including tips on preserving color and shape. Master the art of pressing flowers using traditional methods such as flower presses, books, and other techniques and then learn how to assemble your pressed flowers into beautiful compositions using various techniques such as gluing, arranging, and layering. We will use nature as our inspiration and tool to create beautiful pieces of artwork to take home! Materials: All necessary materials will be provided, including flower presses, assorted flowers, archival paper, glue, and other art supplies. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own flowers for pressing (freshly pressed flowers may not be suitable for use that day, but you could take them home to utilize later). This class is suitable for beginners as well as experienced artists looking to explore a new medium. No prior experience in art or flower pressing is required.
